  Flow sensors can be used in a variety of applications, such as medical equipment, HVAC, portable instrumentation, industrial control, etc., with high stability and long life. Flow sensors and flow meters are always confusing, so what is the difference between the two?

  Flow sensors are used to monitor flow rates, while flow meters always measure flow or fluid mass using a fixed pipe cross section.

  The scope of work

  The working range is the allowable media flow rate at which the sensor can provide a valid signal. The working range may vary depending on the medium, such as different thermal conductivity. In the parameter list, it is always represented by water and oil. However, the working range does not limit the maximum flow rate acceptable to the sensor.

  Start Time

  Response time is the time it takes for the flow sensor to supply power until it reaches operating state. The sensor can only be set after the start-up time and the output signal is considered valid.

  Withstand voltage

  The withstand voltage is for the sensor body, the sensor can be normally stable output signal when the maximum calibration pressure is reached. However, the threaded connection may have a fairly low withstand voltage value, which must be considered.

  Medium temperature

  The temperature at which the sensor is working properly and will not be damaged.

  Standard flow rate

  A typical standard flow rate is defined as the specific flow rate at which the sensor parameters are calibrated. At this flow rate, various parameters of the sensor, such as on time, off time, temperature gradient, etc., are measured.

  Response time

  The response time consists of the on time and the off time. The on time flow begins to indicate the time of the fluid state, and the off time flow ends to the time indicating the fluid state.

  Protection level

  Refers to the sensor's ability to protect solids and water (in accordance with EN 60529)

  Fluid profile

  Most flow meters or flow rate related measuring devices have certain requirements for fluid conditions. The fluid profile helps to more visually demonstrate the state of the fluid to determine if the fluid condition meets the needs of various equipment measurements.

  Reynolds number

  The Reynolds number is an important parameter for characterizing fluid flow characteristics. This dimensionless quantity is used to distinguish between different flow states, flow rate distributions, etc. of the medium.

  With the continuous development of flow sensors, more and more types of flow sensors are gradually coming out, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. When selecting a flow sensor, users should select the appropriate sensor according to their own needs.
